Program Overview

Participant Completion Requirements All students are required to attend a safety rules and industry overview lecture administered by a Qualified Safety Instructor before they can proceed to the next section of the training procedure.

1) Orientation and Safety Lecture *Given by Qualified Safety Instructor with over 25 years industry experience

Overview of the job requirements to operate a Power Industrial Truck.

Why training and recertification is necessary.

Safety rules and regulations that surround the industry.

Responsibilities of the employee and the employer.

Dangers of misuse of Power Industrial Trucks.

Failure to comply with OSHA and CAL-OSHA rules and regulations.

Job outlook in the Inland Empire and what to realistically be prepared for.

2) Safety Video Instruction *Students will be shown a safety video which covers:

Principals of operation.

Safety rules and regulations.

Proper handling techniques.

Difference between automobile and forklift handling.

And much more

3) Safety Test. *Written safety test with an 80% correct answer response is required

Students will be administered a written safety test with questions pertaining to the safety video they have just watched.

Students are allowed to pass with an 80% percent correct answer response.

Students that fail will be asked to make a separate appointment for further review.

Students will be terminated from program if caught cheating.

Students with reading difficulties have the option to have the test administered verbally.

(The ability to read is not an OSHA requirement to operate a Power Industrial Truck).

4) Hands on Evaluation *Mandatory

Students will be shown how a proper pre-trip and post-trip inspection is done.

They will be shown and required to operate a Power Industrial Truck on a short evaluation course.

Determine the student’s ability to physically handle the equipment.

Completion will be at the discretion of the trainer’s observation of the student’s abilities.

Failure in this part of the training session will require further training. Students will not pass until the trainer is satisfied the person is not a safety risk to others.

Students that feel they need more practice can call and schedule additional practice time.
